The fellows have been keeping busy! Read on to see what they’ve been up to.

January 2021 – CRC Trivia Night

At the end of January, our Community Relations Committee (CRC) held a trivia night to benefit a local Boston charity. Over 40 MCPHS fellows, alumni and current students tuned in virtually and were quizzed on a range of fun topics from the Boston sports to biotech. Our entry fees raised $225 for Horizon’s for Homeless Children, a charity providing children experiencing homelessness with high-quality early education and opportunities for active play.

February 2021 – Supporting Black-Owned Businesses for Black History Month

In celebration of Black History Month, CRC held a Take-Out Day in collaboration with MCPHS-Worcester’s IPhO chapter to support local Black-owned businesses and restaurants. 

February 2021 – MFN Addressing Racial Inequality (MARI) Group

“The only way to undo racism is to consistently identify and describe it—and then dismantle it”- Ibram X. Kendi

The MFN MARI group was started in the summer of 2020 with the goal of providing a safe forum to engage in dialogue over important and challenging topics. On the last Friday of Black History Month (Feb 26), the MARI group completed their discussion on Ibram X. Kendi’s “How to Be An Antiracist.” The MFN MARI group looks forward to continuing to grow into better advocates in the future.

February 2021 – ILC Escape Room

Our Industry Leadership Committee (ILC) hosted a Virtual Escape Room night as a leadership development, collaboration, and networking opportunity for the fellows in the MFN.

March 2021 – Networking and Cyber Sleuth

In March, the Networking Committee held an evening of codebreaking and socializing with Cyber Sleuths. Cyber Sleuths is a puzzle-based event similar to an escape room wherein groups of fellows will work together in teams as they solve puzzles and complete challenges with items they have around the house.

April 2021 – Paint and Sip

Our fellows took a break from their usual daily routine and joined in on a relaxing night of Paint and Sip hosted by the Networking Committee. It was great to see a sneak peek of our fellows’ creative sides!

June 2021 – Boston Red Sox Game

As our first in-person event of the year, the fellows attended a Boston Red Sox game together at the end of June. We were joined by both current fellows as well as some of the alumni that are still in the Boston area.
